West Ham want Benfica striker Darwin Nunez

West Ham United are interested in signing Darwin Nunez from Benfica in the summer transfer window, according to Calcio Mercato. The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that the Hammers made an offer of €48 million on the final day of the January transfer window and remain keen on securing the services of the 22-year-old Uruguay international striker.

David Moyes’s side have just Michail Antonio as their recognised striker and will need to sign a player upfront in the summer transfer window. West Ham are ready to launched a bid for Nunez in the summer of 2022. The Hammers are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Nunez has made 19 starts and three substitute appearances in the Portuguese league so far this season, scoring 20 goals and providing two assists in the process. The young striker has scored four goals in eight Champions League matches this campaign.
