(GSM) – Heiko Westermann has finished his move from Schalke 04 to Hamburger SV. The deal has been long awaited and both clubs have confirmed the agreement today.
The versatile defender will sign a four-year contract at Armin Veh’s side. Schalke receives €7.5 million for the Germany international.
At Hamburg, Westermann will be a direct replacement for Bastian Reinhardt, who retired after last season to take the role as the club’s sporting director.
Westermann, 26, made 92 Bundesliga appearances in three seasons for Schalke after joining from Arminia Bielefeld in 2007.
