What are Liverpool’s expectations for next season?

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has set about rebuilding his squad this summer.

The Scot has favoured signing British players so far this summer with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing arriving at Anfield.

Strengthened

These players are definitely good additions to the Reds squad. Typically of British players though they have cost over the odds but are likely to play key roles for Liverpool next season. Liverpool now have a host of options in midfield and it could lead to players leaving this summer.

Improvement

Last season started off like a nightmare for the Reds under Roy Hodgson. The former-Fulham boss was way out of his depth at Anfield and the club struggled under his  leadership.

Kenny Dalglish initially came in as a caretaker and helped the club climb up the Premier League table. A sixth place finish was a decent result considering the fact that Liverpool were in the relegation zone when Dalglish took over.

Dalglish was rewarded with the Liverpool job on a permanent basis, much to the delight of most Liverpool fans.

Distraction

Finishing sixth meant that Liverpool won’t have the distraction of European football next season. Obviously the Reds fans would like to be in the Champions League but a place in the Europa League isn’t so attractive to the Anfield faithful.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish believes the lack of European football could be a blessing in disguise. He told the clubs official website: “ We’d much rather be in the Champions League than out of it and this is the first year for many years we’ve not been in Europe.

“But maybe that will be an advantage to us because we will have less games to play and players will have a chance to get more rest. All we can say is we’ll give our best for the football club.

Heart

One attribute that Dalglish seemed to bring back to the Liverpool team last season was heart. The club had lacked that before his re-appointment and he restored a spirit that Liverpool had been famous for in the past.

Uncomplicated

Kenny Dalglish won’t do anything complicated to change the Liverpool team but he is a great motivator of players. He will keep his instructions simple and not try to complicate the game.
Optimism

Kenny Dalglish’s re-appointment has brought about a great sense of optimism within the red half of Merseyside. Liverpool are definitely a better team under the Scot than under Roy Hodgson.

Some Liverpool fans do have a tendency to get carried away sometimes and have unrealistic expectations. I’m sure most Liverpool fans are realistic about their sides chances of success next season.

Europe

Although Europe can be a distraction I know that most Liverpool fans are hoping the club can finish in the Champions League spots next season. A top place in the top four isn’t beyond the Reds.

Liverpool have the makings of a good side and with Kenny Dalglish’s guidance I’m sure they will fare far better than they did last season.

Early

I have read and heard a minority of Liverpool fans saying they think that the Reds can challenge for the Premier League title next season. I think that its far too early for Liverpool fans to believe that the club can challenge for the league title.

Maybe in a few seasons time Liverpool will be back in the Premier League title hunt but for now I think the Reds will have to be happy with challenging for a place in the top four next season.

Where will Liverpool finish in next seasons Premier League?

Our goal I think is just to win the games we should. Consistency is key. Titles will come from maintaining a winning mentality even when times are tough

Dont get me wrong, I’m a huge Liverpool fan, but I am upset. I honestly now feel like I’m rooting for Manchester City after all of these signings. What happened to LFC raising up players out of the youth ranks?? Poor Spearing isn’t going to see a damn minute this season, I dont know what is going to happen to Kuyt, and what the hell was the Doni signing all about?? This next season, while watching a Liverpool game, there will be absolutely no, ‘who the hell is that new prostpect?’ or ‘my god, he looks like he’s 16!’ there will just be ‘oh, theres another overpaid player.’ I realize that we want to be competing for the title, but is this lineup going to be cohesive at all?? All of these players will have such big heads I don’t know how this is going to work. I’m really worried about this team.
