Who are the Arsenal stars that Mikel Arteta is looking to move on this month?

While Arsenal might still have their sights set on mounting another Premier League title charge this season, the Gunners find themselves at the heart of a recent rut.

Crashing out of the FA Cup last weekend following a 2-0 loss at home against Liverpool, Mikel Arteta’s side have remarkably recorded just a single win from any of their previous seven appearances across all competitions.

Missing out on several chances to climb to the top of the Premier League table, it appears that Arteta is keen on a January clear-out at the Emirates.

Although Arsenal have made it clear that Aaron Ramsdale will not be allowed to leave the capital on either a loan or permanent basis, we have taken a look at a few first-team stars that could be heading for the north London exit this month.

Eddie Nketiah

Although Arsenal might have shown some extended attacking issues on their seven-match blip, it has been heavily suggested that the Gunners are hoping to cash in on Eddie Nketiah this month.

While ex-Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus might be dealing with another injury set-back, Nketiah has started in just one of the Gunners’ previous nine domestic appearances across all competitions.

However, although Arteta might have made it clear last summer that he wanted the England international to stay put in north London, it appears that the Spanish tactician does not see Nketiah as his leading man.

With the 24-year-old previously making it clear that he was seeking regular first-team action, it has been reported that the likes of Crystal Palace are keen on striking a deal during January’s transfer window.

Although Arsenal’s homegrown starlet might have notched just five Premier League strikes this season, there are suggestions that Arteta has slapped a £30million price tag on the one-cap international.

Emile Smith Rowe

While Emile Smith Rowe might have been regarded as one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents just a couple of years ago, the 23-year-old now finds himself at a career crossroads.

Although the three-cap England international might have returned from his latest injury issue last month Smith Rowe has drastically struggled to break into Arteta’s first-team plans at the Emirates.

Only making the briefest of cameo appearances during Arsenal’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, the Gunners’ playmaker has also featured for just 19 minutes over their last five appearances.

With it appearing that both parties have accepted that a move away from north London would be best for both parties this month, Smith Rowe could be set to link up with a former Arsenal boss.

With Aston Villa enjoying a stunning Premier League romp this season, it has been reported that Unai Emery is still a huge admirer and is keen on a reunion before the window slams shut.

Jakub Kiwior

Although Jakub Kiwior might have only arrived at the Emirates 12 months ago following a £17.6million move from Serie A outfit Spezia, the Polish international has failed to find any kind of stability in the capital.

Turning into his own net during last weekend’s 2-0 loss against Liverpool, the 23-year-old has made just a trio of Premier League starts this season and has struggled to hold down a place in Arteta’s plans.

While it might have been suggested last month that Arteta was keen on keeping hold of Kiwior during January’s transfer window, it appears that Pep Guardiola’s former right-hand man has had a change of heart.

Now weighing up the idea of sending the versatile defender on an initial loan switch for the remainder of the season, there are reports that Kiwior has a trio of Italian giants chasing his signature.

Alongside speculation surrounding potential interest from reigning Serie A champions Napoli, it has also been suggested that both Juventus and AC Milan are monitoring the situation closely.
