One year on from their first attempt to bring Jadon Sancho back to the Premier League, Manchester United appear to have finally wrapped up a deal for the England starlet.

Reported by numerous outlets from across Europe over the past 24 hours, the 21-year-old England winger is set to complete an 85m euros (£73m) move to Old Trafford after a deal was reached with Borussia Dortmund.

With Sancho set to end his four-year stay in rural Germany, it has been widely speculated that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified four key positions he wants to improve as they look to build on their progress from last season.

Expected to further break the bank before the 2021/22 campaign gets underway, we have taken a look at three other stars who have been linked with a move to Manchester.

Leon Goretzka – Bayern Munich

Suffering international heartbreak with Germany at Wembley and crashing out of this summer’s European Championships thanks to that 2-0 defeat on Tuesday evening, Leon Goretzka’s future at Bayern Munich could also be up in the air.

Back in April, Goretzka said he was leaning towards signing a contract extension with the German champions, but the parties have yet to come to an agreement and there has been no further movement since then.

While reports in Germany might suggest that the 26-year-old’s first priority is to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena, Sport Bild suggested earlier in the week that Manchester United have made the first approach about his availability.

Also linked with a potential move to the likes of Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, Goretzka has just one year left on his contract with Bayern and it is no secret that The Red Devils are on the lookout for a new central midfielder.

Declan Rice – West Ham

Putting in what was a monumental display alongside Kalvin Phillips as England knocked Goretzka’s Germany out of this year’s delayed European Championships in midweek, Declan Rice continues to find his stock at an all-time high.

Cementing his spot in Gareth Southgate’s midfield, the West Ham ace has only continued to progress over the past 24 months and played a vital role in a Hammers side that broke a string of records throughout the 2020/21 campaign.

Often in possession of the captain’s armband at the London Stadium, the one-time Chelsea schoolboy was crucial as David Moyes’ side secured a Europa League finish and a best-ever points tally.

Shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, Rice is widely regarded to be one of the Premier League’s best defensive midfielders and The Guardian reported on Tuesday that Manchester United are keen on bringing the 22-year-old to Old Trafford.

Pau Torres – Villarreal

While it might not be a secret that Manchester United are on the search for a new central midfielder, especially with Paul Pogba’s contract ticking away, Solskjaer also has a new central defender at the top of his summer wishlist.

With the former Premier League champions on the lookout for someone to be a long-term partner alongside England international Harry Maguire, The Guardian have also reported that United are keen on Villarreal star, Pau Torres.

Although the 24-year-old might have seen Eric Garcia pinch his spot in Spain’s starting XI at this summer’s European Championships, Torres enjoyed a standout campaign during the 2020/21 campaign and played a vital role as The Yellow Submarine lifted the Europa League title against United back in May.

With a release clause that currently stands at £60million, Solskjaer’s side now find themselves in a race against time to complete a deal before Torres heads off to the Olympics.
