Who is reportedly topping Mikel Arteta’s wishlist for Arsenal in January?

Slumping to what was a hugely disappointing 2-1 defeat at home against Wolves over the weekend, Arsenal find themselves in the midst of a growing crisis in North London.

While the Gunners might have managed to lift both the Community Shield and the FA Cup at Wembley over the summer, Mikel Arteta’s side have managed to muster just 13 Premier League points heading into December, their worst start to a domestic campaign since 1981.

Although their Europa League run might have offered them some brief solace, some have already started to question the 38-year-olds place in the Emirates dugout.

With another important January transfer window ahead if Arteta is to kick-start his rebuilding job, we have taken a look at three potential targets who could be on Arenal’s wishlist.

Patson Daka

While Arsenal fans might have been ecstatic to have seen Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sign a contract extension at the Emirates over the summer, the Gabon ace has drastically failed to live up to that new-deal and he finds himself in the midst of a torrid run of form.

With Arsenal remarkably failing to score a single Premier League goal from open play since October 4th, it is no surprise that many feel Arteta will be demanding another attacking option come January.

Looking to take some pressure off their skipper when the window reopens, Football London reported earlier in the week that Arsenal have identified Patson Daka as a potential target after what has been a real purple patch for the Zambian striker.

Really stepping up and filling the void that Erling Haaland left after leaving Red Bull Salzburg back in January of last year, the 22-year-old has already scored 12 goals in 11 appearances this season, after netting 27 times last campaign.

Odsonne Edouard

As Arsenal fans will be more than aware of, this is not the first time that they have been linked with a potential swoop for Celtic talisman Odsonne Edouard.

A player that has been rumoured to have been on Arsenal’s radar over the past 18 months, Arteta’s side could be smelling a real opportunity to tempt the French starlet away from Glasgow with the Hoops in the midst of their own growing crisis.

With many calling for Neil Lennon to step down from his role after both crashing out of the Europa League and also suffering a stunning 2-0 defeat against Ross County in the League Cup, the Scottish giants could be forced to cash in on their prized asset.

Despite Celtic’s hugely worrying run of form, Edouard has remained a constant performer in Glasgow and has already managed to muster himself eight goals since opening the 2020/2021 campaign.

Emi Buendia

Although Arsenal might have managed to bring Thomas Partey over from Atletico Madrid on Deadline Day, it is believed that Arteta still has another central midfielder on his wishlist when the window reopens.

While Pep Guardiola’s former right-hand man might still have the likes of Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny in his ranks, eyebrows were raised earlier in the week when The Metro reported Arsenal have identified Norwich’s Emi Buendia as a potential target.

With it looking like number one target Houssem Aouar will be staying put at Lyon at least until the end of the season, Norwich’s 23-year-old Argentine gained a string of admirers despite the Canaries losing their Premier League status last season.

Once again impressing as Norwich have skyrocketed their way to the top of the Championship, it’s reported that any move from Arsenal will depend on Norwich and their need to sell.
