Wickham wants Sunderland exit

Daily Mail is reporting that Sunderland starlet Connor Wickham is ready to leave the Premier League at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old had a big role to play as the Black Cats miraculously avoided the drop last term, but he has failed to make the desired impact this season.

After netting five times in nine games last season, Wickham has scored just one goal in as many matches this term, and it appears he is ready to quit the Stadium of Light in the summer.

Given that his current contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign, the forward hopes to leave Sunderland on a free transfer and join a foreign club.

The Black Cats are desperate to tie down Wickham to a new long-term deal, but they will obviously be powerless to prevent their star player from leaving if he refuses a new contract offer.
