New Hoffenheim signing Tim Wiese is eagerly anticipating a fresh challenge as he looks to help his team into the Champions League.
The 30-year-old, who moved to the Rhein Neckar Arena from Werder Bremen in the off-season, is determined to take Markus Babel’s men to new heights following their 11th-placed finish last term.
“I’m a short-tempered man in the game, and always want to go ahead with absolute determination to win,” the Germany international told Bild.
“We want to finish in the top six next season. Who knows, at some point we even want to enter the Champions League. There are no goals that cannot be achieved.
“If the coach sees me as a candidate for the captaincy, I will seize the opportunity. I have been in the German national team for four years now, and the more successful we are at Hoffenheim, the more I will not leave the goalkeeping set-up without a fight.”
Wiese will be looking to transfer some of his experience to his new teammates, having played in Europe consistently during his seven-year stint at the Weserstadion.
