Wife and agent of Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi, Wanda, revealed the Nerazzurri striker was subject of intense interest from both Juventus and Napoli.
The highly-rated forward was free to join a foreign club during July for a release clause set to €110 million but ended up staying at Inter Milan despite reported interest from Real Madrid.
And now Wanda moved on to reveal that two of Italy’s biggest clubs, Juventus and Napoli, both harboured the interest in signing the 25-year-old.
In an interview with Tiki Taka, Wanda explains that Juventus looked at Mauro Icardi before Cristiano Ronaldo, adding that she met Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
In the end, it all came down to Mauro Icardi’s decision to remain with the Nerazzurri, according to Wanda.
“The only contact Mauro has had with Juventus is the seven goals he’s scored against them. It’s obvious that there’ll be offers for a striker like Mauro, but his choice was clear from the start.”, she said.
Mauro Icardi joined Inter Milan from Sampdoria in the summer of 2013. The previous season was his best-ever in the Serie A with Icardi scoring 29 league goals in 34 appearances.
