Competition: Championship
Market: Wigan win
Odds: 23/20 @ Bet 365
Enjoying a bright end to the season, a resurgent Wigan side will welcome Millwall to the DW Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, picking up a 1-1 draw against Birmingham last weekend, it has been quite an eye-catching end to the year for Wigan. Securing another season in the second-tier, Paul Cook’s side have lost just one of their last nine Championship matchups, a run that stems back to the start of March. A huge part of the Royals’ push for safety has been their continued performances at the DW Stadium. Sunday’s hosts are unbeaten in front of their own supporters since New Year’s Day and have taken points off of Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Norwich on that run.
As for the visitors, throwing away a 1-0 lead against Bristol City in midweek and suffering a 2-1 loss at the Den, it has been a worrying end to the year for Neil Harris’ side. Just crawling over the finishing line and securing another campaign in the Championship, the Lions have failed to win any of their previous six matchups and their form on the road has been hugely concerning throughout the season. Millwall have lost four of their last six appearances outside of South London and failed to win any of their last three on their travels. Given Wigan’s stellar record at the DW, we’re backing Sunday’s hosts to come away with the three points.
