Wigan Athletic are interested in signing Zach Clough from Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic. It has been reported that the Latics are working on a deal to bring the 25-year-old – who can operate as a forward or as an attacking midfielder – to the DW Stadium this month.
Clough has been on the books of Forest since January 2017 when he joined from Bolton Wanderers. Much was expected of the attacking player when he arrived at the City Ground, but things have not gone according to plan for the Englishman. The 25-year-old had loan spells at Bolton and Rochdale and is struggling for playing time at the Reds.
Wigan are fighting for survival in League One at the moment and are in danger of going down to League Two at the end of the season. The Latics are third from bottom in the standings with 20 points from 21 games. Meanwhile, Forest currently find themselves five points above the Championship relegation zone in 19th place.
