Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has said that there is a lot of work to be done if the club are to sign Wilfried Zaha, reports Sky Sports.
The Spaniard has been a keen admirer of the England Under-21 striker and made several approaches to sign him during the summer, but was unsuccessful.
It appears that the main stumbling block could be the price Crystal Palace are asking for, with the Latics only willing to pay £3m.
Referring to the latest on this potential deal, the Wigan boss said: “I don’t think it is going to be a realistic player for us. In these situations it has to be value for money.”
Zaha’s value is only likely to go up between now and January too. He has been impressive for Palace at the start of the campaign and several clubs will surely be monitoring his progress.
If this doesn’t include Wigan, it will perhaps be because they have their eyes on another potential new signing.
It is being reported today that Honduras midfielder Roger Espinoza is a possible target for Martinez as he looks to bolster his squad.
Any move would have to be done in January though, so for now, Wigan need to go into matches with what they have got.
Then, come January, they could be very active in the transfer market.
