Wigan full-back Ronnie Stam has revealed his desire to join PSV Eindhoven at the end of the season.
The Dutch defender started the season as a first team regular, but he was since relegated to the bench and has made just one appearance in the last three months.
Stam believes his absence from the starting line-up has something to do with the contract extension clause in his deal.
“I played almost every match until February,” Stam was quoted as saying in Voetbal International.
“I’m two matches away from a contracted salary increase. I think they regret that over here, because I’m not playing anymore.”
The 27-year-old reveals PSV Eindhoven tried to sign him last summer, and he is hoping the Dutch giants will come calling once again.
“Last summer PSV tried to sign me on loan. They don’t do that if I don’t want to go.
“At that time Wigan didn’t cooperate, too bad. But I still think the same about it.
“PSV is a beautiful club, but there are more great clubs. But it would be a great solution for my situation at Wigan.”
Stam joined Wigan Athletic in a €4 million deal from Twente in the summer of 2010 and has enjoyed a bright start to his career at DW Stadium.
The player, who made a name for himself at NAC Breda, has amassed a total of 20 Premier League appearances this season.
