Wigan will sign Honduras left-back Maynor Figueroa, currently on loan from Honduran club Olimpia, on a permanent basis in the January transfer window, manager Steve Bruce confirmed on Wednesday.

Figueroa has been on loan since last January and has started every Premier League match this season.

“I think Maynor has done enough here, and there is a deal in place between the two clubs,” Bruce said.

“We negotiated in the summer to have him on loan until Christmas, but now with the sort of money we're talking about – 1.5 million pounds – it's a no-brainer to make it permanent.”
