Wijnaldum close to joining Barcelona

According to a recent report from Daily Star, Georginio Wijnaldum’s agent is closing in on a deal that will see the Dutchman sign for Barcelona.

The Liverpool star has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, and the Spanish giants have made their interest in his services crystal clear.

Wijnaldum was hailed as the Reds’ Champions League hero last year courtesy of his performance in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against, ironically enough, Barcelona. They would’ve taken note of that showing as well as most o his other outings during Liverpool’s Premier League title-winning campaign, and they’ve come to the conclusion that he is their man.

There’s going to be an awful lot of turnover at the Nou Camp between now and the start of the new La Liga season, but this could turn out to be a really shrewd piece of business for them.
