According to a recent report from Sunday Mirror, Georginio Wijnaldum is still planning on leaving Liverpool to join Barcelona this summer.

There are said to be multiple reasons for his desire to leave, but one of the most dominant is his wish to play with Lionel Messi and fellow Dutchman Memphis Depay. Of course, a lot of pieces would need to fall into place for this to happen, but Wijnaldum is the one who wants this and it feels like Liverpool are going to respect that.

Wijnadlum has never been pinpointed as the Reds’ best midfielder but he does tend to be quite reliable. He’s a strong presence in the middle of the park, he’s efficient, and he regularly gives 110%.

A move over to Spanish football would likely suit him and his style really nicely, but it’d leave a fairly big hole in Liverpool’s midfield that Jurgen Klopp needs to fill.
