Fulham striker Bobby Zamora has been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage in January after he was left out of the Fulham squad for their weekend game at Swansea.
The England striker is believed to have fallen out of with Cottagers boss Martin Jol.
Denial
Jol has denied that there is a rift between himself and Zamora but to leave the striker out of the squad completely suggests otherwise.
Jol has a history with Zamora having already sold the striker when the pair was together at Tottenham. Its clear that the pair don’t see eye to eye.
January
The rift has kicked off the rumour mill and looks like Zamora could be moving in the January transfer window. He has already been linked with the likes of Sunderland and QPR. Some pundits have suggested that he could end up at an even bigger club.
Decent
Bobby Zamora is a decent target man but I wouldn’t say he is outstanding. His recent call-up to the England squad was I think a waste of time. At 30 years of age I really doubt that he is going to become a England regular anytime soon.
He is a player that has made the most of the ability that he has been given. Zamora works hard to ring every bit of talent out of himself. That hard work has been rewarded with the call-up to the England squad and nationwide acclaim.
His reputation has grown while he has been at Fulham because he has played regular first team football. He struggled at Spurs to even get into the squad and didn’t look good enough. He enjoyed better success at West Ham and with the Cottagers.
His best spell was at the start of his career in the English lower leagues with Brighton. He was prolific with the Seagulls and that lead to a move to Spurs but it was too much too soon for the striker. The last few years have probably been the best he has had in the top flight.
Big
Although he is decent I doubt he is good enough to play for a big club again. I have heard Liverpool fans saying that they reckon Zamora could do a job for them up front but I don’t think he is good enough.
Fulham is just the right level for the former-striker. He is good enough for most teams in the Premier League but probably not the top six.
Glad
As a Everton fan I would gladly welcome him to Goodison Park. Everton definitely need a new striker and it seems Zamora is out of favour, no matter what Martin Jol says. The only sticking point would be the fee.
Whatever it is it’s likely to be more than Everton can afford to pay. New Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill is likely to have cash to spend in the January transfer window and he could make a move for the ex-Tottenham man.
Likely
I think that Bobby Zamora will be leaving Fulham in the near future. If not in January then next summer. He is still hoping to be more involved in the England setup and he won’t get another chance if he’s not playing for Fulham.
It would be a shame for Fulham if he did leave because he is one of their key players and biggest attacking threat. The striker and Jol’s personalities obviously clash and for the sake of his career I think he will have to move on.
Will Bobby Zamora leave Fulham in the January transfer window?
