Competition: International football
Market: Wilshere to make the England squad
Odds: 1/7 @ 888 Sport
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere suffered a hairline fracture in England’s 1-0 win against Denmark in mid-week, and as a result will be out of action for potentially up to two months. It means the 22-year old faces a race to be fit in time for the 2014 World Cup this summer, as his recovery time will need to be fast for England manager Roy Hodgson to be convinced he’s ready to be selected in his 23-man side.
888 Sport are giving odds of 1/7 for Wilshere to make the England squad, and providing his recovery goes as expected, he could even feature in the few remaining games of Arsenal’s league campaign.
This season, he’s enjoyed a considerable upturn in form, and has finally started scoring and creating goals. He’s scored five goals and made four assists in all competitions this season, and was set to be a pivotal member in Hodgson’s squad, playing as an advanced playmaker.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he will do everything he can to ensure Wilshere is fit to play in the World Cup, as he knows how vital it is for a player to feature in the most prestigious football tournament.
