Will Jordan Rhodes leave Huddersfield in the winter transfer window?

Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes has started to attract the attention of a number of top clubs.

The young Scotland international has been prolific in the last few seasons and has found the net 25 times in 21 League One appearances this season.

Important

Huddersfield boss Lee Clark has stated that the prolific striker isn’t for sale. The Terriers are challenging for promotion to the Championship and are currently 3rd in the League One table.

Rhodes goals helped Town to the play-offs final last season and would be dearly missed.

However if the club from Yorkshire receive an offer that is too good to turn down then I believe they will have to sell their top striker. A fee in the region of £4million has been mooted but it remains to be seen if the Terriers would accept that amount.

Interest

There is certainly no lack of interest in Rhodes. The latest team being linked with the former-Ipswich front man is Tottenham. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has ruled out an imminent move for the 21-year-old but Redknapp is famous for changing his mind when it comes to transfer deals.

SPL giants Celtic have also shown an interest in Rhodes. However just like most clubs in Scotland the Hoops aren’t exactly flushed with cash at the moment. They would probably struggle to come up with the apparent £4million required to sign the striker.

Premier League Everton have also been linked with a move for Rhodes. Just like Celtic though the Toffee’s don’t seem to have the funds to purchase the striker. Rhodes is just the sort of player that Everton are crying out for, a lively striker who gets you goals.

Blessing

The fact that times are hard in football and clubs are struggling to find the fee for Rhodes could be a blessing in disguise for everyone involved. Huddersfield still need Rhodes to help them to promotion and Rhodes has guaranteed first team football at the Galpharm Stadium

Everybody at Huddersfield will be hoping that Jordan Rhodes is still part of their squad when the winter transfer window slams shut. He is by far their most important player and to lose him would be a big blow to Lee Clark’s sides hopes of gaining promotion.

Goals

Jordan Rhodes guarantees you goals. The youngster has been prolific in League One and he seems like a natural finisher. Consistent goalscorers are hard to find in the modern game. He has the potential to be a very good player and at 21 has a lot of time to improve.

Standard

Although he seems like a natural goalscorer the question is can he make it at the top level? Rhodes has only been playing regular first team football for the past two years. Rhodes started his career at Ipswich in the Championship but never really got a proper chance.

He also had loan spells at Oxford, Brentford and Rochdale before moving to Huddersfield in 2009. Since moving to Yorkshire he has a goalscoring record of just over a goal every other game, which is impressive in any division.

So he has spent all his short career in the lower leagues. He would have to prove himself all over again if he moved to a higher level. He is still young and it could damage his confidence if he stepped up a level or two and couldn’t make grade because he wasn’t ready.

Loyalty

I think the striker will show loyalty to Huddersfield and stay with the club until the end of the season. He knows that Huddersfield have helped turn him into one of the most promising youngsters outside the Premier League.

If he decides to leave Huddersfield next summer then I think most Terriers fans would understand, especially if he has scored the goals to help the club achieve promotion.

Will Jordan Rhodes move on during the winter transfer window?
