Will Jose Mourinho be the next Real Madrid boss?

jose-mourinhoLast night Jose Mourinho’s Inter defeated European champions Barcelona 3-1 in the San Siro. Mourinho has to be praised for his typically astute tactics and management.

The victory just adds to Mourinho’s reputation as one of the world’s top head coaches. Although the tie is not over Mourinho scored a crucial victory over Barcelona.

Future

This year could be the ‘Special One’s year in the European Cup. He learnt from his mistakes last year and signed the necessary players needed to be successful.

This is why Mourinho is such a good coach he knows his sides strengths and weaknesses.  When he identifies a weakness he finds a solution to that weakness.

Wanted

Jose Mourinho is probably the most wanted boss in European football. He has made no secret of the fact that he doesn’t like Serie A. It seems Italian football and Mourinho have a rather uncomfortable relationship.

Even if Inter do the double of Serie A title and European Cup it’s unlikely that Mourinho will still be at the Nerazzurri this summer.  The big question is where will Jose Mourinho turn up next? One of the clubs being heavily linked with the former-Chelsea boss is Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Style

Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid are both high profile complicated beings. Some critics of Mourinho would say his style of play is rather defensive, yet Inter’s victory over Barca was achieved by using attack as the best form of defence.

His previous tactics have been seen as rather defensive and that’s a complete contrast to what everybody at Real Madrid want to see. Real Madrid expect to win and win in style or the fans and board are not satisfied.

Mourinho would make Madrid successful there is no question about that but could he adapt his managerial style to suit the club? I don’t believe his ego would ever allow him to change his approach much. That means Real Madrid changing their whole philosophy. I can’t see Real changing their philosophy either. However I believe a happy compromise could be reached.

Fans

It seems the majority of Real Madrid fans seem in favour of continuity. Current boss Manuel Pellegrini has come in for lots of criticism this season but his side are still in with a good chance of claiming the La Liga title and playing decent football.

Yet a title victory may not be enough to ensure that the former-Villarreal boss is in charge next season. It wouldn’t be the first time a head coach left Real after a securing the title and probably won’t be the last.

The criticism of Pellegrini has been harsh. He has had to knit together a whole new team. A team needs time to get to know each other and form a team spirit. You can’t just throw together a group of individuals and expect them to perform straight away. It looks as though Real are finally playing as a team but it could be too little too late for the Chilean boss.

Rivals

Jose Mourinho will be a Real Madrid hero before he even joins Los Blancos if his team prevents Barcelona from winning the European Cup at the Bernabeu. It would be a complete disaster for Real fans if their hated rivals won the European Cup on their own soil, it would rub salt into their own Champions League wounds.

Its looks like the controversial Portuguese may just bring a smile to the Real Madrid fans whether he joins the club or not.

England

Mourinho has also been linked with a move back to the Premier League with Liverpool and Manchester City supposedly interested in enquiring his services. He has great love for England and the English media love him due to his sheer strength of character.

The rest of Europe doesn’t seem to appreciate his colourful press conferences and character. He would almost see a return to the Premier League as going home. Wherever he ends up you can guarantee that Jose Mourinho will bring colour, controversy and success.
