The Daily Mail is reporting this afternoon that Bayern Munich could be ready to end their interest in Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
The German club have made it well known that they would like a striker to compete with Mario Gomez next season and it appeared as though Dzeko fit the bill.
However, it is being suggested that Dzeko is demanding too much in terms of wages, something which is putting the Bundesliga club off the move.
Instead, they are turning to Croatia forward Mario Mandzukic who made a good impression during Euro 2012, scoring on three occasions.
Reports this morning suggest that Mandzukic wants less than half the amount Dzeko was demanding, so is seen as the more sensible option for Bayern Munich.
However, there could still be time for a twist or two in this transfer story with the Daily Star suggesting that Manchester City could offer Dzeko to Bayern in exchange for Arjen Robben.
Robben did sign a new deal at Bayern recently, but he didn’t have the best of times last season and was actually booed by his own fans during the Champions League final.
This, combined with the fact Dzeko was mainly on the bench for Manchester City last season, mean that this is definitely a story to keep an eye on.
