Relations between struggling Premier League side West Ham and Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon have been far from cordial after the latter’s president Bruno de Carvalho referred to the West London club’s co-owners, David Gold and David Sullivan, as ‘the dildo brothers’.
That remark came following the Hammers’ pursuit of Sporting midfielder William Carvalho, but now the Portuguese side have finished sulking and are ready to start negotiating again, according to the Guardian. They are only willing to accept a bid upwards of £28m however, but, as new West Ham manager David Moyes will reportedly be given a ‘Please keep us in the Premier League’ war-chest to purchase as many as four players, that figure may well be met.
The Irons find themselves down in 18th place, having secured just nine points from 11 games, and the addition of Carvalho, an extremely talented defensive midfielder, could help prevent West Ham from spending any longer as the Premier League’s worst defensive side.
