William Saliba eyes Arsenal loan exit

According to But! Football Club, Arsenal central defender William Saliba wants to return to Saint-Etienne on a loan deal in the January transfer window. It has been reported that the 19-year-old central defender is not happy with his current situation at the Gunners and is ready to make a move back to the French club.

The youngster became an Arsenal player in the summer of 2019, but as part of the deal, he spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Saint-Etienne. Saliba was expected to stay on loan at the Ligue 1 club this season as well, but the move collapsed in the final stages of the summer transfer window.

Saliba has yet to play for the Arsenal first team and has also been left out of Mikel Arteta’s Europa League squad. It does not make much sense for the youngster to just train or play for the Under-23 side, and a return to Saint-Etienne on a loan deal would be best for all parties concerned.
