Willian and Pedro Rodriguez, both set to leave Chelsea as free agents this summer, have signed one-month contract extensions to remain at the club until the 2019/20 Premier League season is finished, the Londoners have officially confirmed.
Chelsea were reportedly keen to keep the services of Willian past this summer, but the Brazilian winger wanted a deal lasting at least three years, which they weren’t willing to offer due to the fact that he’ll be turning 32 in August. His destination after he leaves Stamford Bridge remains uncertain, though he has been linked with Barcelona, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the past.
As for Pedro, the former Barcelona forward appears to be on his way to AS Roma on a two-year deal. It was reported last week that he had decided to leave as soon as the month of June was over, when his old contract would have expired, but it now seems he has changed his mind and he will help Frank Lampard’s team try and secure Champions League football for next season.
