As relayed by Sky Sports, Willian says his representatives are in discussion with Chelsea over a new contract and he hopes an agreement will be reached soon.
The 31-year-old has been with the London club for six and a half years now, winning two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and League Cup each, and the Europa League this year. Speculations about his potential departure from Stamford Bridge have been coming thick in the last year or two, with Barcelona mostly named as the interested party. Juventus have also reportedly asked about his situation only a few days ago.
But it appears that the Brazilian winger would prefer to remain at Chelsea and continue working with Frank Lampard, providing the experience arguably needed as a counterweight for all the youth the former midfielder has been employing so far this season.
Chelsea’s transfer ban has been halved by the Court of Arbitration for Sports from two windows to just one, which they’ve already served. It means they will be free to sign a replacement in January if necessary, but Willian is keen on staying put.
