Former France forward Sylvain Wiltord is poised to join Olympique Marseille on a sixth-month loan from fellow Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes.
“We have the opportunity to have him for six months. We need an experienced player, who will bring something to the dressing room and who has an exemplary mentality,” Marseille coach Eric Gerets told a news conference. The Belgian coach added that the former Arsenal player would be in Marseille later on Thursday for a medical and to sign his contract.
Wiltord, 34, scored 26 goals in 92 appearances for France between 1999 and 2006 and he was a member of the Euro 2000-winning team.
