According to Kicker, Kevin Wimmer wants to extend his stay at Hannover 96 in Germany as opposed to heading back to Stoke City. The 25 year old is aware of the difficulties surrounding making the deal permanent, but he’s still eager to try and push it through. Alas, Hannover probably wouldn’t be able to stump up the required €12 million to get the deal done, although Wimmer will likely want to go elsewhere regardless once he has made the trip back to Stoke.
The Potters are currently down in the Championship, whereas Wimmer appears to be thriving in the Bundesliga. This certainly raises the question as to whether or not it’s worth shipping players like Wimmer out permanently after being relegated, given that the wages involved are always likely to hamper any club who plays in the second tier as opposed to the top tier. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not Wimmer gets his wish.
