Borussia Dortmund haven’t received any official offers for Julian Brandt despite the recent reports of interest from Arsenal, and according to Fabrizio Romano, the whole business has become extremely difficult following the injury suffered by Axel Witsel. Dortmund are apparently reluctant to sell players in January even without such misfortune, and now the deal seems less likely to happen than ever.
Witsel left the pitch in the 30th minute of Dortmund’s 1-3 triumph away to RB Leipzig on Saturday, with Emre Can coming on to take his place. It was later confirmed that the Belgium international had suffered a torn Achilles tendon and he won’t be available for a long while.

Brandt is a player fully capable to performing Witsel’s usual duties in the middle of the park, and having lost one player there, Dortmund are set to rule out parting ways with another one this month under any circumstances. Arsenal reportedly saw Brandt as a good option to increase the creativity of their midfield, but it seems they will have to look elsewhere if they don’t want to wait for the summer.
