Competition: Bundesliga
Market: Wolfsburg to score over 1.5 goals
Odds: 4/5 @ Bet 365
With the chance to move one step closer to securing another European finish this season, Wolfsburg will welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to an empty Volkswagen Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, shocking almost everyone across the Bundesliga and marching to a 4-1 win away at a high-flying Bayer Leverkusen in midweek, Wolfsburg have returned from the enforced break enjoying quite the run. Aside from a 2-0 defeat against title outsiders Borussia Dortmund last weekend, that is just their sole top-flight defeat since the end of January and the mood in Oliver Glasner’s camp should be on the rise. Picking up a routine 2-0 win when they faced off against Saturday’s guests earlier in the season, Wolfsburg also have a growing reputation for their performances in the final third. With midfielder Renato Steffen once again finding the net on Tuesday night and now recording four Bundesliga goals in his last six outings, Die Wölfe have bagged at least a pair of goals in five of their last seven matchups, including a 4-0 romp against Mainz on home soil.
As for the visitors, although Eintracht Frankfurt may have mounted a great escape to snatch a point off of Freiburg in a 3-3 thriller in midweek, the Eagles find themselves in the midst of a real crisis. Still firmly looking over their shoulder at the drop zone after securing a European finish last season, Adi Hutter’s side have lost five of their last six Bundesliga outings and have landed just a sole point since the start of February. Making the trip to the Volkswagen Arena holding just a two-point buffer over the bottom-three, Frankfurt have continued to show what has been some abysmal performances at the back. Including shipping a trio of goals on Tuesday, the Reds have remarkably conceded at least three goals in five of their last six appearances. In a real battle between the in-form vs the out of form, Hutter’s side should be in for another overwhelming test this week.
