Wolfsburg have completed the transfer of Ricardo Rodriguez from Zurich, the Bundesliga club announced on Friday.

A recent announcement from Zurich revealed that the 19-year-old was on the verge of completing his move, pending a medical examination, and Rodriguez has now signed a four-and-a-half-year contract until June 2016.

“Ricardo is a great talent. He became a regular fixture at Zurich, and also played a good role in the Champions League and managed to be brought into the national team,” Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath said.

An official transfer fee for the left-back was not disclosed by either club, but is believed to be in the region of 6 million euros.

Rodriguez was part of the Switzerland side that won the Under-17 World Cup in 2009, and earned his first senior cap in a Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales in October.

He made 48 competitive appearances for Zurich.
