Wolfsburg chief Klaus Allofs has moved to confirm reports linking the Wolves with a summer move for Hannover striker Mame Biram Diouf.
German newspaper Bild revealed last week that general manager Klaus Allofs and coach Dieter Hecking had met with the striker in an attempt to lure him to Volkswagen Arena.
And Allofs has now confirmed the meeting taking place, admitting the club were indeed interested in the highly rated forward.
„We have talked about what the possibilities are. He is a very dangerous striker and a free transfer,“ Allofs confessed to Bild.
The German daily has suggested that Wolfsburg offered the player a long-term deal worth around €4 million per campaign, but Diouf reportedly rejected the proposal.
Having also turned down a €2 million offer from his current employers, it appears the Senegalese is holding out for a Premier League move, with Cardiff and Stoke reportedly keen.
The 26-year-old has bagged a total of 26 goals in 57 Bundesliga appearances since joining the 96ers from Manchester United.
