Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have revealed they are considering a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.
The Brazilian midfielder has lost his place in the side to Javi Martinez, with his status likely to become even more difficult following the arrival of Thiago Alcantara.
Wolfsburg seem ready to offer the 25-year-old an escape route from Alianz Arena, but it remains to be seen whether Bayern would be interested in the proposal.
“If one wants to improve the team and a player is on the market, they have to talk about Gustavo,” Wolfsburg chief Klaus Allofs confessed to Bild.
“We have informed his representatives of our interest.”
Wolfsburg chiefs are desperate to reinforce the squad after the team achieved 11-th place finish last season, and it appears that money is no problem at the moment.
With the Wolves doing well to keep hold of star midfielder Diego, they believe the arrival of Luiz Gustavo would see them create a very good squad for the upcoming season.
Luiz Gustavo arrived at Alianz Arena in a €15 million move from Hoffenheim, and has done pretty well to justify the price tag.
The Brazil international made a total of 64 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians and scored 6 goals, and he was an important part of the team that won a historic treble last term.
