Edin Džeko insists VfL Wolfsburg are not contemplating a first Bundesliga title despite registering their eighth successive league victory by defeating champions FC Bayern München 5-1.

“We’re not thinking about the championship, but it is very nice to be in first place,” said the 23-year-old Džeko. “There are eight games to go until the end of the season. I was of course delighted about my two goals because they helped the team.” Grafite will no doubt echo such sentiments after scoring his 19th and 20th goals in only 17 appearances this term, his second strike being an exquisite back-heel after waltzing through the Bayern defence and rounding goalkeeper Michael Rensing. “That was definitely the best goal I’ve ever scored,” said the Brazilian, who celebrated his 30th birthday last Thursday.
