Russian media outlet Izvestia understands that Wolfsburg are keeping close tabs on CSKA Moscow full-back Mario Fernandes.
The Bundesliga high-flyers have had the defender watched on several occasions this season and they are expected to step up their interest in the coming weeks.
The only problem is that he has only recently signed a new deal until June 2019 with the Russian giants and is valued at €25 million.
Mario Fernandes, 24, has developed into one of league’s top right-sided defenders and he has been linked with a big club move for quite a while now.
The highly rated full-back was handed his Brazil debut by Carlos Dunga in the 4-0 friendly win over Brazil, which has seen his stock rise even further.
Fernandes joined CSKA Moscow from Brazilian giants Gremio in the summer of 2012 and has since featured in 57 Russian Premier League matches, while starting all six Champions League fixtures this season.
