Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are stepping up their interest in Real Betis midfielder Benat Etxebarria, according to Kicker.
Wolves boss Felix Magath has plenty of options in centre midfield, with Jiracek, Josue, Polak, Hasebe and Medojevic all vying for two places in the starting line-up, but the controversial boss doesn’t appear to be satisfied with his choices.
The fact that he used defender Christian Trasch and full-back Marcel Shaefer in centre midfield in the first competitive game this season goes to prove this claim.
It is for that reason that Magath has set his sights on Real Betis playmaker Benat Etxebarria.
The La Liga side have confirmed they are prepared to cash in on their prized asset, but they are holding out for €13 million.
The problem is that Wolfsburg are not ready to go above the €10m mark, but there is still hope that the deal can be concluded before the transfer window closes.
Benat has seen his stock rise a great deal following an impressive season with Betis that saw him score 6 goals and create another 5 in 35 La Liga appearances.
