Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have poured cold water on speculation linking Dutch forward Bas Dost with a January exit.
The 25-year-old has failed to make a single league appearance this season and he is currently behind Ivica Olic and new signing Nicklas Bendtner in the pecking order.
As a result, the former Heracles star was heavily linked with a move away from the club, but the Wolves are adamant they are not looking to sell the striker.
“We know what Bas Dost is capable of. He is only just back to fitness,” Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Alofs explained to Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.
“We know he has the desire to play regularly but he has to be patient now. His time will come. Things do not happen in the blink of an eye, that is for sure.
“We do not want to sell Bas Dost. There are no selling tactics. I still think he is able to be a regular goalscorer in the Bundesliga in the long run.”
Bas Dost joined Wolfsburg two years ago from Heerenveen and he enjoyed a good debut season in Bundesliga, scoring 8 goals in 28 league appearances.
He, however, largely struggled last term, featuring in mere 13 league games, albeit missing the final few months of the season through injury.
Dost has only made one substitute appearance in DFB Pokal this season, but the club chiefs clearly believe he has what it takes to become an important player for Wolfsburg.
