Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic is being linked with a return to Wolfsburg, according to Kicker.
It was at Volkswagen Arena that the Croatian forward made a name for himself and it appears that his former club is again interested in his signature.
Namely, the Wolves have hired agent Giacomo Petralito to contact Atletico Madrid chiefs and enquire whether Mandzukic would be available for sale in the summer.
The Croat has clashed with coach Diego Simeone over the alleged lack of effort in training and he is currently struggling for playing time at Vicente Calderon.
Wolfsburg have been monitoring his situation closely and will now attempt to lure him back to Volkswagen Arena.
The Croatia international has done pretty well in his first season with los Colchoneros, bagging a total of 20 goals in 36 competitive outings.
But, with Wolfsburg determined to mount a serious title challenge in Bundesliga next season, Mandzukic could be interested in returning to Germany.
