Bundesliga giants Wolfsburg are close to agreeing a deal to sign Stoke City defender Phillipp Wollscheid, according to Bild.
The Wolves were looking to sign a replacement for Dante, who recently joined Nice, and they appear set to sign the former Bayer Leverkusen stopper.
Wollscheid and his representatives are already in Germany as the deal nears completion, and he should soon form a centre-back pairing with Jeffrey Bruma.
The 27-year-old initially joined Stoke City on a loan deal in January 2015, before the Potters purchased his contract six months later.
Wollscheid made a total of 45 Premier League appearances for the club, but he now looks set to move back to German Bundesliga, where he played for Nurnberg, Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz.
The Wolves will be looking to mount a serious challenge for Champions League positions and they can be backed at 11/10 to succeed in their quest.
