Defending Bundesliga champions VfL Wolfsburg have snapped up Brazilian defender Rever Humberto Alves Araujo from Gremio for an undisclosed fee. Rever, 24, has signed a four and a half year contract with Wolfsburg and will stay at the Volkswagen Arena till June 2014.
Rever started his career with Paulista and was part of the club’s Brazilian Cup winning side in 2005. He had a short stint with Dubai club Al Wahda before transferring to Gremio. At the time of joining Wolfsburg, Rever still had close to four years left on his contract at Gremio.
Rever is unlikely to make his Wolfsburg debut till the third week of February. He sustained an injury while playing for Gremio last Sunday.
Wolfsburg’s next three Bundesliga games are against Hamburger SV, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.
