VfL Wolfsburg’s Swiss goalkeeper Diego Benaglio is set to return for the defending Bundesliga champions this weekend after undergoing knee surgery ahead of June’s World Cup.
The 26-year-old had an operation on his right knee at the start of February and is hoping to be involved in Sunday’s match, against the Bundesliga’s bottom side Hertha Berlin, for the first time this year.
“It is really a great thing to train with the team again, I am really pleased to be back,” said Benaglio who is hoping to be part of Ottmar Hitzfeld’s Switzerland team for June’s World Cup.
Benaglio has not played for Wolves since December, but is set to be a key feature in the Switzerland squad for the World Cup where the Swiss have drawn Spain, Honduras and Chile in Group H.
