Wolves´ Henry facing up to reality

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Karl Henry knows the odds are against his side staying in the English Premier League.

A 2-1 loss at Stoke City on Saturday was Wolves’ sixth successive league defeat, and has left the team six points adrift of safety.

Caretaker manager Terry Connor has picked up just one point since taking over from the sacked Mick McCarthy in February.

Henry claims Wolves still have a slim chance of survival, but will need to improve dramatically over the final six matches of the campaign.

“It will take nothing short of a minor miracle to keep us up now, we’ve got it all to do,” Henry told talkSPORT.

“We desperately need a result and the sooner we get it then we’re in with a bit of a shout. Hopefully we can get on a run and nick three or four wins, but we’ve given ourselves a mountain to climb.

“We’ve got Arsenal on Wednesday and you never know, QPR beat them, turned them over the other day.”

Wolves’ performance in their defeat at the Britannia Stadium has given Henry hope they can earn some positive results during the run-in.

“We’re a result away from getting back into it,” he said.

“If we perform like we did today and put the effort in, we just need that bit extra in front of goal.”
