With a spot in the knockout stage of this year’s FA Cup up for grabs on Thursday evening, Wolves will welcome Southampton to an empty Molineux.

Starting with the hosts, putting in a professional display over the weekend and managing to collect a point off of Champions League chasers Leicester, Wolves will be desperate to keep up some momentum at Molineux. Despite a 1-0 loss away at Crystal Palace when drawing a close to January, the Oranges did bounce back in some style. Along with snatching a 0-0 draw away at Chelsea last month, Nuno Espírito Santo’s men impressed many as they picked up that dramatic 2-1 win against Arsenal on February 2nd. Smelling a real chance to progress their FA Cup adventure in midweek, it should also be highlighted that Wolves hold an eye-catching record against Thursday’s guests. Losing just one of their last six meetings against Southampton, the Oranges are rightfully seen as a marginal top pick on home soil.

As for the visitors, while Southampton might have managed to land that 1-0 win against Arsenal on FA Cup duties last month, that appears to have been just a minor bounce for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men. In the midst of what has been a growing crisis on the South Coast, the former RB Leipzig boss has seen his side freefall down the Premier League table. Along with that humiliating 9-0 drumming away at Old Trafford last week, the Saints put in another sluggish display last weekend. Shipping a trio of strikes away at an inconsistent Newcastle, Southampton have lost each of their last five Premier League matchups on the bounce. Losing each of those five appearances by an aggregate score of 18-4, we’re backing what could be another tough evening on the road for Hasenhüttl’s side.
