According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Wolverhampton Wanderers are believed to be in advanced talks with Arsenal over a deal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
The Gunners could be letting him go for a fee as high as £20 million, with manager Nuno Espirito Santos hoping to strengthen his resources both at full back and in the middle of the park. The youngster is one of the most versatile players currently on the books at the Emirates, and he could fit brilliantly into the system that Nuno is trying to create at Molineux.
Maitland-Niles still has three years left to run on his deal with the club but he isn’t currently in Mikel Arteta’s plans, and with the new season now being just a few short weeks away, they’ll want to finalise their squad sooner rather than later.
Wolves, though, will probably still want to keep the same small squad that they’ve been working with for a while, with AMN serving as a potential replacement for the injured Jonny Otto.
