According to reports in England, Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to agreeing a permanent deal for Rui Patricio. The goalkeeper joined the club from Sporting Lisbon back in the summer, but Sporting are demanding compensation and the fee being thrown around is believed to be in excess of £15 million. Patricio will likely sign a four year deal which will keep him at Molineux until at least 2022, unless an offer comes in from a bigger club before then that he can’t refuse.
Patricio was considered to be one of the signings of the summer when he joined during the post recent transfer window, with Wolves showcasing to the world that they aren’t playing around in the Premier League. The Midlands-based club look as if they could be outside contenders for the European spots, which would be a remarkable achievement for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side given that they have only just returned to the top flight after gaining promotion from the Championship last season.
