According to a recent report from A Bola, Wolverhampton Wanderers have stepped up their chase for Moussa Marega of Porto. Wolves’ tendency to go after stars from Portuguese clubs has been well documented, but aside from all of that, this seems like it could be a genuinely impressive (and realistic) signing for them. The 28 year old Mali international scored six goals in nine games during the Champions League this season, which helped Porto to reach the quarter finals of the competition. Roma are also interested in going after him, with Marega’s release clause believed to be around £35.3 million. That kind of figure would’ve seemed insane for Wolves just a few short years ago, but now, it’s incredibly possible – especially after their Europa League qualification was confirmed.
Wolves are shooting for the stars right now and so they should, with this potential transfer serving as an interesting indicator of where they’re at.
