Wolves’ Leao bid rejected

According to a recent report from Calciomercato, AC Milan rejected an offer from Wolverhampton Wanderers for Rafael Leao in the summer.

There was an awful lot of change going on at Molineux during the summer transfer window with big names coming in and big names going out. Leao, 21, was constantly linked with a move to the Black Country, but Wolves couldn’t quite come to terms on a deal with Milan.

The Portuguese connection will ensure that the rumour mill starts back up again as we head into the January transfer window, but even if it didn’t, this is a clear indication that Wolves are pursuing the idea of becoming regular challengers in the race for the top six.

Whether or not they’re able to sustain that forward momentum, though, also depends on their ability to keep hold of their best stars. It won’t be easy, but life at the top of the Premier League rarely is.
