The Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers do not hide their ambition to gain promotion back to the Premier League next season and enjoy backing from new owners Fosun International to succeed in their aim.
Having boosted their ranks with the likes of Diogo Jota, Rodderick Miranda and most notably former FC Porto defensive midfielder Ruben Neves, Wolves plan to add more quality to their roster to improve their chances of earning automatic promotion to England’s top flight.
Portuguese news outlet Ojogo claims that Wolverhampton have opened negotiations over a possible January deal for Benfica midfielder Joao Carvalho.
The 20-year-old has endured a difficult season with the Portuguese champions but was rewarded with rare 90 minutes in his team’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Basel.
Carvalho does not feature in Rui Vitoria’s long-term plans and Wolves are said to have opened talks through super-agent Jorge Mendes over a €15 million winter move to Mollineux.
