Wolverhampton Wanderers wanted to sign Oliver McBurnie from Sheffield United in the summer transfer window, according to The Telegraph (9:35pm). It has been reported that Wolves looked at signing McBurnie from the Blades on summer transfer deadline day, but the Premier League club ran out of time to make a deal happen.
McBurnie has been on the books of United since 2019. The Scotland international striker has scored seven goals in 75 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The 25-year-old scored one goal in 12 Premier League starts for the Blades last season.
Wolves have lost their opening three Premier League games of the season and have yet to score. The Wanderers could have done with more firepower. Perhaps Wolves will revisit the situation when the transfer window opens in January.
