Wolverhampton Wanderers wanted to sign Neco Williams from Premier League rivals Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to The Times. It has been reported that the Wanderers were looking at Williams as a potential replacement for Matt Doherty, who had left for North London club Tottenham Hotspur.
However, according to the report, Liverpool did not want to cash in on Williams, and Wolves ended up signing Ki-Jana Hoever with Diogo Jota moving the other way. Jota has now established himself as an important player for the Reds and scored a hat-trick for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Champions League in midweek.
Williams is a very talented and promising young right-back who has played five times for the Wales national football team. The 19-year-old has played eight minutes in the Champions League and twice in the EFL Cup for Liverpool so far this season, according to WhoScored.
