France showed why they are one of the favourites for the FIFA Women’s World Cup with an impressive 4-0 win over Canada on Thursday.

Camille Abily wrapped up the result with France’s third goal on 67 minutes, before with 11 minutes remaining; Thiney was substituted, ending her brilliant impact on the game.
There was still time for another goal though as Elodie Thomis added the fourth with seven minutes to play as the France juggernaut rolled on.
In the day’s other match, Germany edged Nigeria 1-0 in front of almost 50,000 fans in Frankfurt.
The host nation took a while to get going but managed to win the game via Simone Laudehr’s goal nine minutes into the second half.
